In addition to a comprehensive literature review, Kelly Sloan interviewed seven different organizations who have a self-described successful relationship.  Common themes emerged that are critical to the success of a relationship: trust and respect, job functions that support each other, ED/Board Chair strategies, organizational climate and effectiveness, certain leadership qualities, and emotional intelligence.

The book contains practical strategies to implement in these areas as well as a list of resources relevant to the subject.  This book and its findings will be of interest to any volunteers or staff working in the non-profit sector particularly Executive Directors and Board of Directors.
