Yes. Individuals and agencies within Alberta may request copies of items from the information files through the RCVO online catalogue.

How do I request information files?

It's easy. Each item from the information files in the RCVO online catalogue has an "Add to List" button next to it. Create a list of items as you search the catalogue, view your list to make any changes, and choose "Send me the item(s)".  Requests will be faxed free-of-charge to Alberta-based individuals and agencies.

Are information files available in electronic format?

At this time, most RCVO information files are in print format. However, some resources are content from web pages. These items are classified as “Electronic resources” and are often accessible* from the Internet. As an alternative to requesting electronic resources via the RCVO online catalogue, you may access them directly.

To do this, expand the record into full display by clicking on the item’s title. Then, click the link in the URL field (see illustration below) to go directly to the item.

*While every effort is made to keep the catalogue up-to-date, due to the dynamic nature of the Internet, the RCVO cannot guarantee that every link in the URL field will be current or working.

Can I borrow books?

Books on the voluntary sector are located both on site in the RCVO library and in the MacEwan Library.

Books located in the RCVO library may be borrowed for a period of two weeks. For more information on RCVO's book loan policies and procedures, you may download our Book Loan Contract.

Books located in the MacEwan Library may be borrowed through your local public library as the Library is part of The Alberta Library (TAL) system.

If neither of these situations apply to you, and you are connected with a nonprofit/charitable organization (staff, board member, etc.), you may set up special borrowing privileges with  MacEwan Library’s interlibrary loan department. For more information, contact Michelle Bezenar at 780-497-5857 or email bezenarm@macewan.ca.
