With the motto, "Defining philanthropy for the 21st century," this is a membership-based organization of more that 2,000 grant making
foundations. This is an American site, however, there is still a wealth of
information here. The site has a services listing, publications for sale, an
FAQ, as well as grant and career locator tools. For most services, you must
register yourself as a user of the site.

Edmonton Community Foundation

The ECO encourages
philanthropy in Edmonton and surrounding areas. They help potential donors
create permanent endowment funds, which are invested, and earnings from the
investments go to support charitable activities. In addition, they offer and
administer a variety of grants, funds, scholarships, bursaries and awards.

Foundation, established by community leaders in June 2000, is an

The Muttart Foundation

Founded in
1953 by Merrill Muttart and Gladys Muttart, the Muttart Foundation has
provided millions of dollars to support worthwhile projects in Canada and
overseas. This site offers information on the funding and services the
Foundation offers, as well as helping users keep up to date with the latest
goings-on in the not-for-profit sector.
The
Muttart Foundation has been a major contributor to
RCVO and this website.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation

Like Alberta's Wild Rose Foundation, the Trillium Foundation is an Ontario-based grant making foundation.
As mentioned on the site, "The Ontario Trillium
Foundation, an agency of the Ministry of Culture, receives annually $100
million of government funding generated through Ontario's charity casino
initiative." They take these funds, and use disperse them as grants to Arts
& Culture, Environment, Human & Social Services, and Sports & Recreation
organizations. This site contains much the same sorts of information as both
the Muttart and Wild Rose Foundation sites, and offers not only grant
applications, but a variety of success stories related to the grants they
have dispersed.

The Points of Light Foundation is an
American National Network. As
mentioned on the site, "Through a variety of
programs and services, the Foundation encourages people from all walks of
life — businesses, nonprofits, faith-based organizations, low-income
communities, families, youth, and older adults—to volunteer."

The Vancouver Foundation

Vancouver Foundation is a philanthropic
non-governmental community foundation which operates primarily as a
permanent collection of endowed funds. They distribute funding to a variety
of volunteer organizations throughout British Columbia. The history of the
organization alone is worth a visit to this site. Apart from the
requisite funding applications and explanations of how they fund volunteer
pursuits, the site is chock full of links to organizations that have
benefited from and have been involved with the Vancouver Foundation.

Wild Rose Foundation

The Wild Rose Foundation provides funding for non-profit volunteer
organizations. They promote volunteerism, and support a variety of
international development projects. Apart from the numerous grants the
Foundation provides, the WRF is perhaps most noted for the annual Vitalize
Volunteer Conference, which brings together over 1000 volunteer delegates
from a variety of volunteer organizations throughout Alberta to participate
in a variety of training seminars and workshops.
