Canadian Alternative Investment Cooperative (CAIC)

Sometimes traditional lenders don't fully understand the needs of the non-profit sector. The CAIC provides financing to community-based projects at rates "which are at or below those offered by conventional banks and credit unions." This group has in excess of 20 years experience in alternative community financing and may be the answer to your project's financial needs. So if you need a mortgage, construction financing, equity investment or other loan, check them out.

Although Capital Quest Inc. is a professional fund-raising consultancy firm, they offer this site for informational purposes. It is not a sales pitch. In fact, the site contains samples of materials and information from a variety of fundraising campaigns including case statements, solicitation guides, and a video script. In addition, there is information on feasibility studies, soliciting major gifts, recruiting leaders, and typical costs associated with a capital campaign. This is an educational site, with very little sales information.

United Way of Canada

This is the site that will give you access to almost any United Way within Canada. It also links out to the United Way of America, and United Way International. The United Way is probably best known for helping raise funds for United Way member organizations within the local communities they serve. Within Canada, the United Way provides direct financial support to more than 7,000 funded agencies and they provide funding to an additional 10,000 organizations through donor directed giving.
